Wheel Alignment
Precision 4-wheel alignment to ensure even tire wear and stable handling.
About This Service
A precision wheel alignment is one of the least glamorous services we perform and one of the most important for the money you spend on tires and fuel. When your wheels are pointed even a fraction of a degree away from where the factory intended, your tires scrub sideways with every mile, your steering fights you, and your car burns extra gas dragging itself down the road. At Victor Auto Body Works we measure and correct all three critical angles — camber, caster, and toe — on our Hunter Hawkeye Elite alignment system, the same imaging technology used by dealerships and factory-certified shops.
Alignment matters most at the two moments people forget about it: right after new tires go on, and right after any suspension or collision work. Potholes on Route 9, curb strikes, a hard hit in a parking lot, or replacing a control arm can all knock your settings out of spec. That is why a 4-wheel alignment pairs naturally with our tire service and our suspension and steering work — fixing the parts without resetting the angles leaves the job half done.
Because Victor Auto Body Works has been a family shop since 1953, we treat your alignment the way we would treat our own: we show you the before-and-after readings, we explain what changed, and we never adjust something that does not need adjusting. Every alignment includes a multi-point inspection, and our workmanship is backed by our lifetime warranty. Free estimates are always part of the deal.

Signs You Need an Alignment
Alignment problems rarely announce themselves with a warning light. Instead they show up in how the car feels and how your tires wear. If any of these sound familiar, it is worth having us put your vehicle on the Hunter Hawkeye Elite for a look.
Car Drifts or Pulls to One Side
If you have to keep a constant grip to hold a straight line on a level road, your wheels are likely fighting each other. A steady pull is one of the clearest signs the angles are out of spec.
Crooked Steering Wheel
When the wheel sits off-center while you are driving straight, the toe setting is off. We re-center the steering wheel as part of every alignment so the vehicle tracks true.
Uneven or Rapid Tire Wear
Wear concentrated on the inside or outside edge, or a feathered pattern you can feel by running your hand across the tread, points to camber or toe being out. Correcting it early protects the tires you already paid for.
Steering Feels Loose or Twitchy
Vague, wandering steering that needs frequent small corrections often traces back to alignment, though we always check for worn suspension parts at the same time.
Recently Hit a Pothole or Curb
Central Connecticut winters are hard on roads. A solid pothole strike or curb hit can shift settings instantly, so an alignment check afterward is cheap insurance.
New Tires or Suspension Work Just Done
Fresh tires and any suspension repair are the perfect time to align. Starting from correct angles is the single best way to make new tires last their full life.
Our Alignment Process
A good alignment is measurement first and adjustment second. Here is how we approach every vehicle that comes in for wheel alignment at our Middletown shop.
Pre-Alignment Inspection
Before we touch a single setting we inspect tires, tie rods, ball joints, bushings, and wheel bearings. Aligning a car with worn parts is a waste of your money, so we check the foundation first and tell you honestly what we find.
Mount and Measure
We fit the vehicle with the Hunter Hawkeye Elite targets and let the imaging system read camber, caster, toe, and thrust angle on all four wheels. You get precise numbers, not a guess.
Compare to Factory Spec
The system pulls the manufacturer's specifications for your exact make, model, and trim, then shows exactly how far each wheel sits from target. Nothing is adjusted that already reads in the green.
Precision Adjustment
We adjust toe, and camber and caster where the vehicle allows, bringing each wheel back into factory tolerance. On a 4-wheel or thrust-angle alignment we set the rear first so the front can be squared to it.
Center the Steering Wheel
With the angles set we confirm the steering wheel sits straight and level when the vehicle tracks straight, so the car both drives right and feels right in your hands.
Verify and Road Test
We print the after readings so you can see the correction, then confirm the vehicle tracks straight and the wheel stays centered. The multi-point inspection results come back to you with the car.
How Long Does It Take?
A straightforward 4-wheel alignment on a vehicle with healthy suspension typically takes about an hour, and many drivers wait for it. The clock changes when the inspection turns up worn parts — you cannot hold an accurate alignment on a loose tie rod or a tired ball joint, so those are best corrected first. If we spot something, we will call with a free estimate before doing any additional work.
Timing can also run longer on lifted trucks, vehicles with seized or corroded adjusters, or cars coming out of collision repair that need their suspension addressed first. We will always give you a realistic time estimate up front so you can plan your day, and we are open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm.
Why Align at Victor Auto Body Works
We measure on the Hunter Hawkeye Elite imaging system, reading camber, caster, toe, and thrust angle for genuine 4-wheel accuracy rather than a two-wheel shortcut.
A correct alignment makes your tires last longer and roll easier, which quietly saves you money on both replacement rubber and fuel.
Every alignment includes a multi-point inspection, so you learn about a worn tie rod or ball joint before it becomes a roadside problem.
Our ASE Certified technicians know the difference between a car that looks straight and one that actually is straight, and they set it to factory spec.
We show you the before-and-after numbers and re-center your steering wheel, so the car both drives correctly and feels correct.
As a family shop serving Middletown since 1953, we stand behind the work with a lifetime warranty on workmanship and always start with a free estimate.
